January 18, 2016

Riel Karmy-Jones QC and Noel Casey, following upon the conclusion of a successful prosecution trial last year, and extended legal arguments that then ensued, have recorded a legal first in persuading the sentencing judge, HHJ Topolski QC at the Central Criminal Court to accede to the Crown’s application to pass the first Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Orders under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 that have an extra-territorial reach, by excluding the Defendants from an area of their home town in Slovakia from which a number of the victims came.
