Stephanie was called to the bar in 1987. Her early career was spent defending in criminal cases. For 18 years Stephanie prosecuted predominantly in the London and Essex Courts for offences ranging from theft to murder. She was regularly instructed as a leading junior with a specialism in serious sexual offences and child cruelty, particularly historic sexual abuse, cold case rapes and sexual allegations made against young defendants. She now dedicates her time to training.

R v Morris (2010) Chelmsford Crown Court, prosecution of a woman for arson. The case involved the investigation and presentation of other allegations of fire starting over a 10 year period, and introduced to the jury by way of bad character evidence.
R v De Boise (2010) Court of Appeal, responding to an appeal against sentence where the appellant sought to adduce medical expert evidence in relation to hypoglycaemia.
R v Rose (2010) Basildon Crown Court, prosecution of a man for allegations of rape and sexual assault in the 1960s-1970s.
R v T (2010) Inner London Crown Court, prosecution of a 12 year old boy, accused of raping a 9 year old child.
R v S (2010) Snaresbrook Crown Court, prosecution of a 13 year old boy accused of raping a 12 year old child.

R v Rahim (2008), Woolwich Crown Court, prosecuting a cold case “stranger” rape from 1990.
R v Pryor and Hua (2008), Chelmsford Crown Court, prosecuting a married couple for keeping brothels in Essex and Suffolk.
R v P (2007) Chelmsford Crown Court, prosecuting a former scout master on allegations of historic child abuse over 40 years ago.
R v A (2007), Chelmsford Crown Court, prosecuting a rape of a 97 year old lady.
R v De Boise (2006), Southwark Crown Court, prosecuting a man for a series of kidnapping and sexual assaults on young girls in the 1980s.
R v F and F (2006), Chelmsford Crown Court, prosecuting a couple for child cruelty with issues of physical and emotional abuse leading to stunted growth of the child.
R v Casper (2006), Chelmsford Crown Court, defending a dog (Casper) from a death sentence for biting too many children. (Court ordered that Casper “serve life” with the dock officer, who volunteered during the hearing to house the dog!)
Stephanie is involved with her Inn, Middle Temple, the South Eastern Circuit and the Advocacy Training Council in teaching advocacy. She is a member of the Middle Temple Advocacy Training Faculty and leads their Cumberland Lodge courses for training Bar students. Stephanie regularly teaches on the South Eastern Circuit’s Advanced International Advocacy Course at Keble College Oxford. She has taught advocacy world wide and been involved in the founding of Advocacy Training Programmes in India, Pakistan and Jamaica. In October 2008 Stephanie was part of a team of specialist rape prosecutors and police officers sent tp Sierra Leone on behalf of the UN and the Criminal Bar Association to train prosecutors and judges in the prosecution of serious sexual offences. She returned to continue the training programme working with the International Rescue Committee in November 2009.
Stephanie also provides expert witness training as a consultant for Bond Solon Legal Training Consultancy. In 2010 she devised a training programme for CEOP (Child Exploitation On-line Protection Unit), training police and MAPPA officers about the use of criminal and civil orders to protect the public from sex offenders in the community.
