Lori Tucker was called to the Bar in 1982. She joined the Crown prosecution Service in 1986. Lori spent her last years in the Crown Prosecution Service working within the Special Casework/HCA Unit for Norfolk. Here she was responsible for some of the most serious investigations and prosecutions, including offences of fraud, sexual crimes, serious violence and drugs. In particular Lori worked on cases involving the use of covert investigation by the police. She also undertook the full range of advocacy in the Crown Court as well as providing training to the police, CPS (with particular emphasis on unused material/disclosure and covert policing), Victim Support and the Crown Court Witness Service.
Lori returned to the independent Bar in 2010, bringing to Chambers 24 years experience as a CPS prosecutor.
Current Practice
Lori is an East Anglia-based criminal practitioner. She appears regularly in the Crown Court for prosecution and defence. Lori undertakes work for the Crown Prosecution Service in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. She is now instructed by the defence in a variety of cases.
Her practice covers all aspects of crime. She has a particular aptitude for cases of serious violence, sexual offences and drug supply, especially those involving the use of covert law enforcement. Lori is a Grade 3 Prosecutor and specialist rape advocate.
Noteworthy Cases:
R v Yiadom and others – Junior counsel (led by Simon Spence QC). Prosecution for murder of members of a drug gang making a revenge attack on another gang. One defendant pleaded guilty to manslaughter prior to the commencement of the trial and subsequently gave evidence for the prosecution. An earlier prosecution for drug supply by members of the gang, including Yiadom, involving the use of undercover police officers and covert surveillance was dealt with by Lori alone.
R v C – Successful defence of male charged with rape and assault of his partner.
R v Burton and others – Prosecution of a conspiracy to rob, during the course of which a firearm was discharged, and one of the robbers was fatally stabbed.
R v Edmund – Prosecution of 31-year-old for sexual activity with a child aged 13 years.
R v Ogilvie - Prosecution of the offence of blackmail.
R v Lightning – Junior counsel. 16-year-old charged with murder. Convicted of manslaughter.
R v Bream and others – Junior counsel in prosecution of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs involving the use of covert listening devices in the home of one of the defendants, police surveillance and telephone records.
R v Islam and others – Prosecution of 21 defendants charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs involving the use of undercover police officers and covert surveillance.
R v Sesay and others – Prosecution of 14 defendants charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs involving the use of undercover police officers and covert surveillance.
